The Mission of Camp Gan Israel

To provide a safe, fun, and uplifting summer day camp experience where Jewish children grow through joy, care, and meaningful relationships with staff and peers.

Why am I in camp?

We’re excited to have you as part of our CIT program this summer. As a CIT, your role is to support counselors, observe, and assist in daily camp life. You are not responsible for discipline or leadership, but your presence, attitude, and effort make a real impact.

CITs help by assisting with activities, supporting campers when needed, and helping the bunk run smoothly. You are also learning how a camp operates and developing skills for future leadership roles.

What is my job?

• Be a positive presence – engage with campers and bring energy to the group
• Assist counselors with setup, cleanup, and activity support as directed
• Help campers who need extra attention under counselor supervision
• Observe and learn how a bunk operates and how counselors lead
• Ask questions and seek guidance when unsure

What should I do in camp?

• Sign in and out at the front desk daily
• Place your phone in your assigned phone slot upon arrival
• Be on time every day
• Stay with your assigned bunk unless instructed otherwise
• Be respectful, kind, and helpful to campers and staff
• Bring positive energy and enthusiasm to all activities

What should I NOT do in camp?

• No phone use during camp hours
• No disciplining campers – always refer concerns to a counselor
• No inappropriate conversations or topics around campers
• No physical contact with campers beyond appropriate high-fives
• No entering bathrooms with campers – stand outside only
• No leaving your assigned group without permission

What do I do if I have a problem?

Speak with your Counselor or Head Counselor. They are here to support you. If needed, you may also speak with Baily. We want this to be a positive, safe, and meaningful learning experience for you.
