Must campers wear a camp T-shirt every day?
We require all campers wear a Camp Gan Israel T-shirt on trip days. Shirts and caps will be available for purchase at camp for $10.
How does my camper find a lost item?
Mark all belongings with your camper's name and group. Lost & Found items are available daily in the office. Contact us in writing or by phone for specific items.
How does the transportation system work?
Camp Gan Israel uses T&L Transportation for all off-campus activities. A bus service is available from the West Side of Cherry Hill for a nominal fee. Campers must remain seated with seat belts at all times.
How do I arrange to pick up my camper during the camp day?
Notify the office of your arrival time. Campers will only be released to authorized individuals with written permission.
What if my child does not want to participate in a particular activity?
No camper is forced to participate. However, campers are encouraged to try all activities to enjoy the complete program.
How religious is Camp Gan Israel?
CGI welcomes campers from all Jewish backgrounds. Individual observance is not stressed, but a shared Jewish spirit is encouraged through songs and projects.
Can my camper bring a precious item to camp?
Campers may not bring toys or devices. Camp provides all items needed.
What does my camper need to bring each day?
Kosher lunch. Bathing suit and towel on swim days. All sports and safety equipment is provided. Apply sunscreen at home.
How often does my child drink water at camp each day?
Campers are responsible for bringing a filled water bottle. They are reminded to drink every hour, and bottles are refilled as needed. Large canteens accompany campers on off-campus trips.
How can I speak with my child's counselor?
Call the camp office. Messages will be taken, and the counselor will return your call as soon as possible.
How can I speak with a Camp Director?
Directors are available during the camp day at the Camp Office. Call or leave a message for a response.
Are we obligated to give a tip or gift to our child's counselor?
Tips/gifts are appreciated. General guideline: $20–$25 for junior counselors, $30–$40 for counselors.
How can I become more involved with Camp Gan Israel?
The camp encourages "bunk mother" involvement. Inform the Director if interested.
